DFW Multimedia provides trial services for major federal court verdict
In January 2024, a federal jury in Kansas City, Missouri, granted a KC Metro family a staggering $158 million verdict in the death of a man who was shot and killed on a KC bound Amtrak train two years ago. The family claimed in their personal injury lawsuit that Amtrak did not halt after the shooting, resulting in the victim bleeding to death. Additionally, they attributed the incident to security practices that allowed the shooter to possess a gun. The shooter had previously been questioned by a conductor due to suspicious behavior, as stated in the lawsuit. The victim was shot and killed on the train which despite passengers pleas, continued on to the next stop. A jury granted $8.8 million in compensatory damages and $150 million in punitive damages against Amtrak.
